Stormathon Clues 1

6 December, 2011

Away we go – our first lot of four in one Stormy saga. All this lot hail from English sources, dating back ten years. See how many you can solve, and then feel free to post here for boasting, begging or confirmation. Just remember to use a summer alias here in the forum, so screening your ID from other Dabblers.

The idea is to crack all six on offer, and then scramble the answers’ end letters to make a word. Hoard that word, as later next week you’re invited to send in your clue for it, as well as the other three hidden words the Storm will generate.

Or then again, you may wish to offer clues for the solutions you uncover here. The best peer-voted clue of this post will be an early runner in the bid for Tim Moorey’s book about mastering the Times. Time to start:

  1. Lies pregnant, abandoned – about to become this? (6,6)

  2. Censor type of headline (6)

  3. PM leaves a lot to be desired (4,4)

  4. One delving below without fear – a psychologist? (4-6)

  5. Overhead battle? (9)

  6. Field where Spanish team fail to appear in second half (5)
